Grace period for filing of paper Shipper's Export Declarations expired as of September 30, 2008.
All filings of export documents must now take place electronically through the Automated Export System - AES.  Shippers who continue to submit paper SEDs are now subject to penalties.  Details are available on the website of the Foreign Trade Division of the U.S. Census Bureau at http://www.census.gov/trade.  The Census Bureau can also assist you in understanding the new Foreign Trade Regulations and filing export information electronically through the AES.  You may call 1-800-549-0595 with any questions you may have regarding the FTR or AES.  A free Internet-based interface for electronic filing of export information is available.  Please go to http://www.aesdirect.gov for more information.

Madson Area Exports
The U.S. Federal Government is once again releasing data on Wisconsin exports by metropolitan areas.  Madison/Dane County firms exported $1,158,989,855 worth of products in 2005 and  $1,309,518,191 in 2006.  Madison/Dane County ranked #3 in the state behind Milwaukee/Waukesha/West Allis and Racine.  Madison/Dane County accounts for 7.1% of Wisconsin's exports.  Export data on the sud-state level for 2007 has not yet been released.  Click here for more information on metropolitan area exports.
