Grace period for filing of paper
Shipper's Export Declarations expired as of September 30,
2008.
All filings of export documents must now take place
electronically through the Automated Export System - AES.
Shippers who continue to submit paper SEDs are now subject to
penalties. Details are available on the website of the
Foreign Trade Division of the U.S. Census Bureau at
http://www.census.gov/trade. The Census Bureau can also assist you in understanding the new Foreign Trade Regulations and
filing export information electronically through the AES. You
may call 1-800-549-0595 with any questions you may have regarding the
FTR or AES. A free Internet-based interface for electronic filing of export
information is available. Please go to
http://www.aesdirect.gov for more information.
