The Madison International Trade Association (MITA) is comprised of international sales and marketing executives from some of South-central Wisconsin's shining star companies, plus the support service providers who help turn export opportunities into profitable sales.  MITA provides a forum to discuss practical issues with peers who have faced and surmounted similar problems in the past .  Members share travel tips, cultural insights, negotiating strategies, and sometimes even the names of potential customers or distributors.

Our next meeting will be a social outing on Lake Mendota aboard one of the motoryachts of Betty Lou Cruises:

In July 2003 MITA, along with the Center for InternationalImage alt text Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the UW-Madison School of Business, the Center for World Affairs and the Global Economy (WAGE), and the State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce, was recognized by UW-Madison Chancellor John D. Wiley for representing best practices designed by community and university leaders through its International Trade Partnership.

January 2002 marked a new partnership between the Madison International Trade Association and the UW-Madison Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), making CIBER a regular supporter and co-sponsor of MITA's monthly programs and seminars. To encourage participation among UW-Madison students, CIBER also sponsors the attendance of up to three students per MITA event. This gives students a unique "out of classroom" learning opportunity and provides a forum to interact with individuals from the private sector.

For more information about the CIBER program please visit www.bus.wisc.edu/ciber or contact Susan Huber Miller, CIBER Director at 608-263-7682 or via e-mail at shubermiller@bus.wisc.edu.
